WASP launches a new professional clay kit

with clay extruder, the LDM WASP Extruder 3.0 for liquid-tight and ceramic materials.

The new WASP clay kit includes a 3 litre tank (a 5 litre tank is available on special request to info@3dwasp.com and at extra cost). The tank can be refilled or cleaned by simply opening the caps located at the ends. Inside is a piston with two 4 bar seals that pushes the material through the Teflon tube (diameter 12 mm) that feeds the extruder. The cap on the back has a safety valve set at 8 bar.

This technology allows the air to escape upwards and eliminates the likelihood of bubbles being present in the mixture. As with a conventional pressure extruder, if there were bubbles, the flow would be interrupted and the pressure damaged. In addition, thanks to the screw, the density of the print materials is higher. This makes it possible to shorten the time for their change of state from liquid to solid, eliminating the risk of collapse of the printed object. In case of damage to the screw or chamber, they can be easily replaced.

LDM WASP extruder

LDM (Liquid Deposit Modelling) is the name of the new WASP extruder 3.0 for ceramic materials, which can be adapted to most 3D printers on the market.

In two years of time and after experimenting with all possible combinations of pressure, nozzles and materials, WASP has created an extruder model that is capable of stopping and restarting the extrusion flow.

The LDM Wasp Extruder 3.0 is a professional clay extruder for the separation of dense, liquid materials such as clay mixtures and experimental materials. It is equipped with a screw system that is able to regulate the output of the material, which allows for quick interruption of the flow and good retraction control.

Adaptability to other machines

The WASP Clay Kit is designed to be installed on WASP printers, but can be adapted to most existing machines.

It is very easy to install the WASP LDM Extruder 3.0 on other machines. Firstly, it is necessary to print the support cover (the source files are provided by WASP). Secondly, the extruder must be connected to the wire and the "number of steps per millimetre" must be set to 400. These configurations are provided by the most common slicing software, such as Slic3r or Cura.
