The BASF Ultrafuse 316L Filament at 3D Printer Expert:
Easy and cost-effective 3D printing of metal parts.
BASF Ultrafuse 316L (1.4404) is an innovative metal filament with a polymer content for the production of full metal parts with the simplest 3D printing process (FFF). Benefit from years of experience with metal injection molding (MIM) technologies and a proven debinding and sintering process (Catamold®).
The filament has a metal content of over 80%. The uniform distribution of the metal in the binder matrix reduces the risk of defects and increases the success rate. Due to the immobilization of the metal particles in the binder matrix, the potential hazards of handling fine metal powder are drastically reduced compared to selective laser melting (SLM), direct metal laser sintering (DMLS), direct metal deposition (DMD) and binder jetting.
Ultrafuse 316L is compatible with both Bowden and direct drive extruders.
Note: BASF's current Ultrafuse filaments were sold under the Innofil3D brand name until the end of 2019. The Dutch manufacturer was previously acquired by German chemical company BASF. As part of the acquisition, the filaments were renamed and the packaging changed. The printing material itself is still the same high-quality filament as before.
